I just found out last week that I am going to TUCSON....yes, it'll be so hot that I'll melt to the pavement but I cant wait to experience AZ, the red rocks, the temperatures, the people, and to see my best buddy Andrea who is in Tempe. I interviewed for Tucson and Petersburg, VA and chose Tucson.
My last day here in Marion, IN is 5/8...then I head out on a 27 hour, 1800+ mile journey with Huck (My Rav4) to hopefully safely arrive in Tucson. I am going to visit some peeps and see the area so my start date is my 27th birthday....5/26!
I find it flattering that several people here have asked me to stay and hoped I would, however, the boss doesn't exactly have himself together so I couldnt wait for him to make a decision! I'll definitely miss my co-workers, the therapists, the RN's, most everyone really. Over the past 2 1/2 months Ive been able to get to know a lot of people working on several units. Hoosiers are very nice and work very hard. I'll miss the chats I've had with people, and I'll miss answering the million dollar question..."You're from NY? What in God's name are you doing in Marion, IN?"
Ive been able to see a lot though while I was here...my co-workers have adopted me and brought me places like Fort Wayne, home of Vera Bradley, or Indianapolis, Wabash-the first electrically lit city in the USA, etcetcetc.
Ive learned that here in the midwest, big families are a norm, and that everything happens "Because it was God's plan." Many religions are celebrated out here and it is often a topic of conversation. Indiana voted DEMOCRAT for the first time in years.....YEH, they turned blue this year for once!
Words that are popular out here are ornery, catawhompus," instead of "washing my feet" it's "warshing".....people say "You're fine" a lot instead of "It's okay, etc." For example--"Im sorry I didnt see you there"....."You're fine."
I know every place I go, I'll bring with me memories like this, I am thankful that my first travel experience was so positive....let's hope it continues!!!
